Practical prayer strategies the Lord has taught me

This message is extracted from the book "how to pray dangerous prayers." You can get the book for free when you subscribe to the Prayer army here.

Over the years the Lord has helped me apply these examples using the following practical strategies to help in praying dangerous prayers.

#1. Use a prayer app My prayers truly started getting dangerous when I started using a prayer app called Echo. When someone tells me to pray for them, I actually include their prayer request in Echo and then I allocate a day for the prayer.

#2. Keep a prayer diary.  Imagine you want to improve as a sportsperson. Wouldn't it be silly if you never kept track of your best times and hence the record to beat? Why is prayer any different? I use the notes app on my phone to maintain a "Prayer diary." I then periodically review my prayer diary to check the "progress" of how God has answered my prayers.

#3. Pray the Bible by memorizing certain verses. Most people wonder what God's voice sounds like. They don't realize that God "speaks Bible" when he appears. This means if you read the Bible, you will hear God speak to you about your particular situation. Learn to memorize Bible verses to use while praying - for these verses are what you can stand upon in presenting your requests to God.

#4. Use music while praying.   There are countless times when I have started to pray but felt "dry" or "empty. "As soon as I however started playing music, somehow, I got "in the Spirit." I thus know from experience that "God inhabits the praises of his people" (Psalm 22: 3).

#5. Keep an appointed time, God will appear virtually every day. As I highlighted, prayer is a discipline, just like going to the gym or being a sportsperson. I have found that keeping to this appointed time does not become a boring routine or pattern as some think. Rather, I have found it is like a regular date with a loved one. God has often surprised me that day after day when I turn up for prayer at the appointed time, he turns up for our date

I pray these series has been a blessing to you as you learn to pray dangerously!

Your brother in the Lord and a slave of the Lord Jesus.
