Part 3: The things we look at (e.g., movies, social media posts, porn, women).

I’m I boring to be holy?

Some people think I am “boring” because I do not watch certain movies for example. They do not often know I have a rule of “3 strikes”.

If I start watching a movie and it has more than 3 F&*% or S$% bombs for example, I stop watching it, however interesting!

It goes without saying that I will not watch anything sexually provocative. I am likewise careful with movies which seem to glorify witchcraft, certain supernatural powers and the like, of which such movies/series are really increasing!

I am also very careful about who I look at, in fact a friend of mine is always teasing me about my “one look” rule. It goes like this:

Say, I’m at the beach or walking down the street and a woman happens to cross my path, perhaps wearing a bikini, thong or see through clothing (this is quite common in places like the US, especially in the Summer), then having seen this, I will look away or look down. I make sure not to look a second time.

Many people end up “falling” because they look twice, thrice and end up sinning. I learnt the principle behind this from the Bible. Job for example had a similar rule. It says:

““I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.” Job 31:1 NIV

Think of the language in this statement. He made a LEGALLY BINDING agreement with his eyes. That is how serious Job took holiness and righteousness.

I apply similar rules to social media. Any post with dirty language, provocative images etc, I block, I hide, I stroll past - but not just the ones like that, even seemingly “innocent ones” can be dangerous if you are not careful… as the Lord once showed me.

As I said in part 1 to these series, I am quite sensitive spiritually, so one time I was on Facebook and I saw a short video/clip which ended with something like: “Just live your life”.

These are the kind of videos that promote the #YOLO idea (You Only Live Once). That night I had a very strange dream I could not understand and the Spirit actually opened my eyes to show me that behind the so-called innocent “Just live your life” clip was spirits/demons which:

1.       Bring technological advancement (a good thing) BUT also;

2.       Promote homosexuality especially amongst the rich;

3.       Promote drunkenness in wives; and

4.       Promote rebellion and perversion in children.

Think of it, on the surface is an innocent statement YOLO but in the spirit world, there are these spirit beings promoting sinfulness and rebellion against God and fellow man (made in God’s image).

If I hadn’t received a revelation from the Lord, I would have never seen the connection and it’s only then that I started realising that often when I spent a bit of time on FB, I received all sorts of dreams and thus the Lord was showing me the spiritual elements behind what seems innocent and thus one of my other “rules” is I really limit the amount of time I spend on social media because of all these “spirit pollutants” that once you look at them, they open a portal into your soul and pour in other things you never even signed up for!

As I mentioned in part 2, the process that one takes to become “unholy” starts slowly, and that is often also the case with how someone moves from seeing innocent clips of kissing on TV to hardcore porn, it is a journey which starts seemingly innocent and harmless but of course those are the enemy’s tricks - a liar from the beginning.

So, a practical tip I can leave for you is that have a RULE to limit the things your eyes see - if you very carefully sieve these things, you will find that it will start getting easier for you to start having a clearer mind, one that is not bombarded by all these images and strange ideas, then you can actually have peace of mind to meditate on God’s word.

You never really realised how much “spiritual” stuff was hidden behind seemingly innocent things and ideas on social media did you?

Well, more revelations and tips coming up.

To be continued…

Till next time.

Lots of love – your brother in the Lord and a servant of the Lord Jesus.
