Be Very Careful About the Leaders You Submit To

Be Very Careful About the Leaders You Submit To

By Pastor Dickson Wasake  ·  Senior Pastor, OurTestimony.org

I read a scripture recently and discussed it with my wife. It was very interesting:

"If the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, he must bring to the Lord a young bull without blemish as a sin offering for the sin he has committed."

— Leviticus 4:3 BSB

This scripture shows that the personal sin of the high priest was bringing guilt on the entire nation. As you read the Bible, you will begin to see clearly that when God chooses a representative to stand in the gap, their actions have profound effects on those they represent. Think of it: one man, Adam, sinned — and we are still feeling the effects.

This principle plays out in homes, at work, in regions, in nations, and globally.

What Does This Mean for You Personally?

1.  For women seeking a husband: that man will be your spiritual leader in God's eyes. Could his sin bring guilt on you and your future lineage? It is critical that women choose godly men.

2.  For choosing your spiritual leader: ensure the man or woman is God-fearing, walking in line with the Lord's precepts — humble, able to teach, not a lover of money, husband to one wife, not a recent convert. Check this person out. How can someone who walks unfaithfully stand in God's courts and receive favour when making prayers for the ministry? God respects authority. Their private life will affect what flows to the congregation.

It is partly for this reason that you should pray for leaders — including those you have no control over, like presidents — because a God-fearing leader can bring good to an entire generation, while a wicked one can stymie your growth.

I hope you are starting to appreciate how the wisdom of the Bible can literally change your decisions daily. This is why I insist on daily Bible reading. You will start becoming wiser in all you do and you will prosper because of God's counsel.

Do not think you can read in bulk over the weekend. That is a bad idea — you are risking making unnecessary mistakes when the fountain of life is available to guide you every single day.

Stay well and blessed. Maranatha!
