Porn: 70% of men, 17% of women and 50% of pastors are struggling in this area (part 2)

In part 1 of this message I shared the shocking stats about porn including that many of your pastors (estimated to be 50%) are struggling in this dangerous idol. The Lord has sent me a warning message to help you overcome.

So what should you do to overcome porn?

So how do you "escape" this sin of sexual immorality (including porn). There are a few steps I suggest by the Holy Spirit. Let Him help you choose which works accordingly:

  1. Fast. Fasting teaches self-control. If you can control the flesh's urges such as food, you can by extension control other physical urges such as sexual urges which lead to viewing porn and thus by extension any other physical urges - such as anger, theft et al.
  2. Run away. So many people fall into sexual temptation because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. They also wrongly think it is "weak" to run away. BUT if you call Christ your Lord, why should you for example go to a night club and increase the risk of falling? Why should you go on dates or have long conversations with a married person you are attracted to, when married yourself? Why should you meet someone at their home in a private setting and increase the risks of falling? It is wise to stay away from tempting situations, including those which lead to viewing porn.
  3. Change your friends or the company you keep. The scriptures say: "bad company ruins good morals." If you feel you are weak in this area (porn) YET all your friends are cheating on their spouses, they are sharing with you graphic photos and videos, or you are part of WhatsApp groups for "members only" or "OnlyFans" groups (code word for sexually explicit content), then stay away - change your friends and company.
  4. Accountability partner. Get an accountability partner. The scriptures tell us to: "lift one another's burdens," so if you are struggling; share the problem with someone and work together to deal with it.
  5. Get married rather than burn with passion. Marriage is meant to help reduce the risks of sexual immorality and the scriptures "allow" you to get married if you are burning with passion, so don't delay in finding your spouse, you are allowed by God to get married to control the passion!
  6. Purpose in your mind to stop. So many simply don't have the will. They keep saying the "forbidden fruit is sweet." Correct it is sweet, but of course the end thereof is swift judgment and destruction for don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and the God who bought you is jealous?

The Holy One will not tolerate idols in his presence (or the body he purchased with his blood) and those things that take us away from him and he warns us once, twice, even 100 times, but if we reject him; he will give us over to our sins, and Satan the father of lies will come in to do what he does best - steal, kill and destroy! May that not be your portion.

If you have questions on this difficult subject and any of the things I have mentioned, I can speak in love - I am not there to condemn anyone, for Jesus did not do it - instead he said "Sin no more", so my role is to love and point one to the truth - Jesus who delivers us from everything!

Blessings and love.

Your brother in the Lord and a slave of righteousness.
