The true meaning of salvation or receiving Jesus

Jesus as the solution – from the beginning.

As I explained in the first message of these series, no one can receive God when they think they can be their own saviour. In other words, when they think they are somehow “good” and so can save themselves, they are full of pride – like Satan the father of pride.

The day someone starts getting saved is the day when they humble themselves and agree with God - that none of us is TRULY good for we have all sinned against a Holy God and for that we deserve death in everlasting fire (hell), but God is just and has provided an escape - a redemption, his son Jesus who had to die - so you and I could live, if we believe in him (that is put our faith in him).

Jesus was the promised Messiah, the son of God who died and was buried, but 3 days later rose again, by the power of the Holy Spirit - the same Spirit he promises to all who believe in him – those who become children of God. For these, the second death has no hold - they will be with God, as it was in the beginning - no sorrow, no tears, no pain.

When will this new life come? What will it be like? I will not explain the book of Revelation in these series, but if you want a short course in Eschatology (the study of end times), write to me and I will give you the information, but for now, I will have you know that in another place one of Jesus’ original disciples says this about the new life:

“See how much the Father has loved us! His love is so great that we are called God's children—and so, in fact, we are. This is why the world does not know us: it has not known God. Everyone who has this hope in Christ keeps himself pure, just as Christ is pure. You know that Christ appeared in order to take away sins, and that there is no sin in him. So everyone who lives in union with Christ does not continue to sin; but whoever continues to sin has never seen him or known him.” 1 John 3: 1-6.

To find salvation, you need to believe this and seek him...  he is not far as this verse says:

“God, who made the world and everything in it, is Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands. Nor does he need anything that we can supply by working for him, since it is he himself who gives life and breath and everything else to everyone.

From one human being he created all races of people and made them live throughout the whole earth. He himself fixed beforehand the exact times and the limits of the places where they would live. He did this so that they would look for him, and perhaps find him as they felt around for him. Yet God is actually not far from any one of us;” Acts 17: 24 – 27.

How shall you respond? Shall you respond to God’s call?  It is this responding to God’s call that is referred to as “finding salvation” “getting saved” or “receiving Jesus.”

Will you respond as those people who first heard Peter’s message?

“When the people heard this, they were deeply troubled and said to Peter and the other apostles, “What shall we do, brothers?” Peter said to them, “Each one of you must turn away from your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so that your sins will be forgiven; and you will receive God's gift, the Holy Spirit. For God's promise was made to you and your children, and to all who are far away—all whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”” Acts 2: 37 – 39.

Will you receive Jesus?  If you are ready – here is a prayer you can pray including a quick summary of how to receive Jesus .

What happens “The MORNING AFTER” you receive Jesus?

To be continued…

Lots of love.

Your brother – and a servant of the Lord Jesus.

 Lord Jesus, come – Maranatha!

P.S Receiving salvation is a great first step but there is more. What happened to me the morning after my salvation? Stick around for the final part of this series.
